When we first spotted this guy, he was laying down and all we could see was his rack. We waited about 30 minutes and he eventually stood. He was surrounded by about 5 female moose! I painted him later that day from the car while my travel companions hiked. I enjoyed the quiet, sitting at a trailhead and taking in the autumn colors.
This painting is about 9 x 12” and sells for $115.
We had called it a day after exploring the park in-depth but then came across this beauty and just had to photograph him. I later painted him surrounded by September colors of the west. This painting is 5 “ x 7 “ and sells for $95.
We spotted this grizzly bear, which the ranger said was about 6 years old, in Grand Teton National Park and watched her for about an hour one morning. We kept our distance of course, as the ranger had made sure of that. I later painted her (named Fritter) in our cabin at Colter Bay Lodge in the park, very very early the next morning. This painting is about 9 x 12” and sells for $120.
What a sweet little guy, right? You can tell the age of a mountain goat by the size of his horns, and he barely has any growth, so quite a youngster! He was walking along an edge/wall and one of my sons photographed him from above. I just had to paint him shortly after we saw him. This painting is about 9 x 12 “ and sells for $120.
This goat is starting to grow some nice horns, right? He was spotted by my sons while they were hiking Glacier Natl. Park. We had hiked, too, but they went farther on and were treated to this! I just had to paint him. This painting is about 9 x 12” and sells for $110.
I got up one morning super early after seeing Fritter, the grizzly bear, the day before, and just had to paint her. We spotted her in an open meadow and the ranger said that her name was Fritter and she was about 6 years old. Here is my true happy place, sitting in a western-style, 1920s log cabin, painting while all are asleep! Coffee at the ready! You can see the sketch of Fritter in the painting. If you ever go to Grand Teton National Park, I highly recommend Colter Bay Lodge. The log cabins there date back to the 1920s and are so charming! Close to all the wildlife and hiking trails, too!

Sequoia Sunset might seem overly colorful but this is exactly what I saw when we pulled over to the side of the road to take in the sunset on a hiking vacation to California. It was a highlight for me as we all stood here (my husband, sons and I) and looked out quietly to the colorful sky. I took a photo and then painted it the next morning at 6:30 while some of the group slept and another went on a run, in the sitting area of the John Muir Lodge at Kings Canyon National Park. Painting there, taking in a a bit of a smokey aroma from the large, inviting fireplace from a fire the night before, sipping lodge coffee, and every now and then looking up to a massive painting of John Muir and his beloved forest, was quite an experience. This is maybe 6 x 8 inches in size and is part of my journal (not for sale).
Driving around Arizona in May, we spotted this gorgeous range (you can't miss it, of course). I was compelled to do several paintings of various areas of the ranges. I used two different palettes for the series. It's pretty obvious which two are from one particular travel palette. As I painted I was hoping to convey the pure joy I felt when I was there, not only because of their majestic beauty, but also because I was on a much-needed vacation and best of all ... my sons and husband were with me. It doesn't get any better! Click here to contact me about purchasing a painting or note card.

This 9 × 12 painting was done within 24 hours of hanging out on a beach on Lake Tahoe for a day with my husband, son, and his girlfriend (and our favorite dog, August!). This is taken from above. What a unique site in our beautiful country. Just love all the greens, the blue of the water, the mountains … ahh! This painting sells for $120.
