Palm Top on Blue Sky, about 15 x 11 inches, $80, is awash in Gulf Coast blues, greens and sandy tans. There’s energy amid these swirling palms. THIS PAINTING IS SOLD.
Coco Palm Pizzazz, about 8 x 11 inches, is an energetic painting of a coconut palm I fell in love with on vacation on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The colors are quintessential Florida and when I look at this, I’m ready to pack my bags! This painting sold and is hanging in a vacation home in Bonita Springs. Notecards and prints are available. This pretty white ibis was watching us from the shore as we kayaked around Longboat Key, Fla., on a beautiful day in March. Longboat’s American White Ibis is about 8 x 11 inches and sells for $125. It can also be available in notecard/postcard format.
I love palms — any kind. This is a single Bamboo Palm frond. This was painted at Anna Maria Island where a lot of homeowners and hotels/cottages use Bamboo Palms in their landscape. This is available in notecard. The original painting is also available, 12 inch by 12 inch, $110.
I sat on the deck of a little cottage we rented on Anna Maria Island in Fla. and painted these fronds. I decided that just because most of these palm fronds were green as I observed them at the deck, I wanted to add the colors I was feeling! Pure bliss. Going to this area of Fla. is a true tonic for me, coming from Michigan…in March! This is available in scarf, notecard and print.
Manhattan Beach Magnificence was painted at Manhattan Beach, California. The first time I went here, we were moving my oldest son to the L.A. area for his job (temporary location). I didn’t bring my paints to the beach and was so sorry I didn’t. The next time we visited, we joined him for a vacation in central and central-south California. We went to the same beach and this time I was prepared. I feel that the light in California, especially along the ocean, is different than other ocean or Great Lakes areas I’ve been to. To me, it’s a pastel-y world – pinkish, lavender and light light blue…all conveyed in this little, 8 x 10-inch-ish, $60 painting. Click here to contact me about purchasing this.
Umbrella Days, about 10 by 14 inches, $170, was inspired after many-an-afternoon spent on the beaches at the Gulf, Gasparilla Inn in Boca Grande, Fla. What a joy it is to just sit and do nothing but soak up the ocean ambiance. Do you see the woman in the turquoise hat? That is my sister. It's my hat — I asked her to wear it so that I could get an idea of how it would look in a painting. Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting or a note card or print.
“Beach Daze,” 10 by 11, maybe should be called “Beach Gaze.” But you know how it goes, you get all comfortable at the beach on a nice day, and you gaze out and before you know it, you’re in a daze! That’s my sister in the chair, wearing my hat. I asked her to sit there so I could take a photo and later paint the scene. This painting has sold. I did wait a second one very similar, and it’s for sale for $75. Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting.
This 8 x 11-inch painting just sings the blues, as in the blues of the Gulf Coast, along with warm and cool greens, orangey browns and lots of texture from intriguing palm tree bark and coconuts. CocoPalm Top2 sells for $75. Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting. It’s also available in note card or print. P.S. This painting, done on heavy quality French paper, like most all of my paintings, has deckled edges which kind of add to the art and feel of a palm tree. I recommend floating this when matting so the deckled edges are shown…just a thought :)
The Gasparilla Inn and its cottages are pure delight! Lush greens, pops of pinks and happy yellows greet you at every turn, it seems! I felt I had died and gone to Old Florida heaven. Gasparilla Inn Yellow Cottage, 8 x 11 inches, $100, has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, palm-tree-kind-of-appeal! Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting or a note card.
Hibiscus Near Gasparilla Inn,, 8 x 11 inches, $100, exemplifies pure Old Florida gorgeousness. The sunny-yellow inn facade and the swaying palm tree backdrop evoke instant paradise. Every hibiscus petal here at the Gasparilla Inn, seems to bow to Mother Nature's generosity, while each palm frond "sings" look at pretty me. It has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, in-the-garden appeal! Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting or a notecard.
I took a photo of this coconut palm on the beach at Anna Maria Island and painted Coconut Palm 1 at Sunset upon my return home. While painting it, I could sense the setting sun and feel the soft pink-white sands that took on a golden glow at this time of day. The painting, 11.5 x 12.75 inches, $100, is for sale. It has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, coconut-y appeal! Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting or a note card.

So I can't shake that coconut palm feel ….. had to do yet another. This time it's tiny, like 6 x 5 inches, $60. I challenged myself to catch the orange sky in the tree, where you see highlights in the palm fronds. Coconut Palm 5 is tropicana-ish, don't you think? It has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, coconut-y appeal! This painting has sold. Click here to contact me about purchasing or custom-ordering a similar painting.
It was getting to the point where the sun was about to set or behind clouds during dusk one day in March, and soon things began to take on a purplish cast. A sailboat slowly glided by at what seemed to be on the horizon, a bird played in the sand and shells scattered on the beach as the tide rolled in...and it all called for me! Voila — Cedar Cove Sunset, 5 x 6 inches, $50, on the beach on Anna Maria Island, Fla. It has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, waterfront appeal! I painted The Gulf’s Bird of Paradise, 11 x 15 inches, $85, on Anna Maria Island in Florida. Oranges always pop when given a purply, blue, green cast of complementary colors. This flower was tucked amid other awesome flora at a resort.. It was growing near the driveway's edge, so I pulled up a chair and table and painted there. Guests and staff would walk by and take a look as I splashed the paper with the colors of paradise! Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting or a notecard.
Cedar Cove Resort, Anna Maria Island, Fla., features a row of bountiful palms that line a favorite resort's charming suites. The yellow exterior with the criss-cross motif and little white fence round out the suite's enchantment, while the palms stand guard, taking in the inviting breezes. Resort Palms, 6 x 7 inches, $60, has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, coconut-y appeal! Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting or a note card.
Cedar Cove Bench, 6 x 4.5 inches, $60, portrays a cute little area right outside an apartment where we stayed on Anna Maria Island in Florida. Orchids popped from the greenery at the right and a handprinted white bench with a seahorse beckoned passersby. A nice little respite before heading to the beach just beyond. I love the jaunty blue-and-yellow awning — so cheerful! Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting. It has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, coconut-y appeal!
I can't get enough of this little yellow vacation cottage on Anna Maria Island in Florida. So here's round 2! The row of bountiful palms that line one of the resort's charming suites beckons. The suite’s yellow exterior with the criss-cross motif and little white fence round out the enchantment, while the palms stand guard, taking in the inviting breezes. Resort Palms 2, 6 x 7 inches, $50, has SOLD.
I don't know, I mean how can I get over this palm obsession? Seriously, I've gone overboard, so to speak. This little Five Palms, 9 by 11 inches, $85, picks up the feeling you get on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I believe that objects pick up atmospheric colors, so the trunks, for example, take on pinks and aquas, yellows and greens, in my book. Five Palms has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, coconut-y appeal! This painting was purchased by an interior designer in Connecticut, but similar ones can be commissioned! The palm obsession continues. I was in a pink mood when I painted this, so just had to add pink to the sand, water and sky. Oh, and also the fronds! Five Palms Pink, 15 x 22 inches, $150, has deckled-edged paper, which gives it a raw, coconut-y appeal! This painting was purchased by an interior designer in Michigan. Solo Palm 2, $85, about 11 x 15, was started at a class I was teaching on palm painting. What fun we had! Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting.
Enjoy Your Day at the Beach, 15 x 11, $140, was painted following a trip to Anna Maria Island on the Gulf Coast of Florida. What a tranquil little spot, and I do love the sign the resort had on the beach as you make your way down to the water. You walk though the entry and it’s like all your worries disappear, left behind in your footsteps in the sand. Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting or a notecard/print.
