Sea Turtle, 15 x 11, $200, has been sold to a Milwaukee-based woman who writes garden books. She first purchased a hibiscus painting and a poppy painting while in town at a gardening conference (I had an artist booth at the conference). It seems she couldn't stop thinking about the turtle she saw on the site, so off he swam to Milwaukee. Click here to contact me about commissioning a similar painting.
Heron's Nest, 15 x 11 inches, $175, is now hanging at Blue Heron Talent headquarters near Jackson, MI. The founder of Blue Heron Talent is crazy about herons and water ... Of course, a heron's nest isn't really this colorful, but it feels colorful to me when I see it, soaking up the atmosphere around it. Click here to contact me about commissioning a similar painting.
Cardinals. As you may know these lovely birds carry messages for us and good karma. Even the name, cardinal, refers to spiritual meaning. They say if you see one, focus on what you’re thinking at that time, or put out a good and positive thought to the universe, to the One above, or to those you love. This painting is a combination of cardinals I spotted at Stony Creek Metro Park in Michigan and my back yard flowering crabapple tree, which shows its glory throughout the year, from May’s pink blossoms to December’s berries (always a draw for birds). Spiritual Messenger is about 8 by 11 inches and sells for $150. Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting. I am using it as a reference for bird-painting classes I’ll be teaching in 2019 to beginner watercolorists. It also will be available in note card format.
I photographed this chickadee — one of the friendliest birds — at a metro park in metro Detroit in March. I just had to embellish the painting with green leaves because there were no leaves on the trees yet. This painting is about 8 x 11 inches and is available for purchase: $150. Two of my favorites — goldfinches and coneflowers. So this is a natural combo for me. Oh the golds and pinks together :).!! This small painting is about 8 by 11 inches and is available for sale: $120
It’s also available in note card. Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting.
Hummingbird's Lunch, 7 x 7 inches, $50, is an attempt at capturing a little whirring bird which I often hear more than see at my cottage in northern Michigan. This was painted on an Italian Fabiano paper, a smooth and silky paper that doesn't absorb paint as much as other papers do. Click here to contact me about purchasing the painting.
Sea Turtle 2, 15 x 11, $150, was juried in to the Birmingham, Michigan Community House Our Town show in 2015. Once I found out it would be in the show, I decided I needed a really antiquated and charming frame to house this cool old sea guy. I found a woman who refurbished a vintage frame, giving it a driftwood-y appeal with tarnished greens and making it a perfect home for him. The piece sold. However, I LOVE to paint turtles. I love thistle and I love goldfinches — not much more to say here! Golds and violets/lilacs/lavenders look so nice together! This small painting, about 8 by 11 inches, is available for purchase: $80. It’s also available in note card. Click here to contact me about making a purchase.
I spotted this heron in Northeast Michigan. He likes to hang out in this area. The painting features various scenes in Northern Michigan that come together in my mind … pine trees in the distance, trees up close, water, fields and meadows. The colors — blues, greens, golds, tans, siennas, pinks and yellows — are quintessential Michigan. Heron on Creek is framed in a vintage cerulean blue frame and is 15” x 22”. It was juried into a statewide show and sells, framed, for $220. Click here to contact me about making a purchase.
